About Jake McAllister

Jake McAllister has spent 18 years guiding anglers on Lake Guntersville, one of the most productive bass fisheries in the country. Growing up on the Tennessee River system, he developed an intimate understanding of the lake's vast grass beds, ledges, and seasonal bass movements. His clients regularly boat 30-plus fish days during peak seasons, and he specializes in helping first-time visitors unlock the lake's full potential.

Whether you're chasing a personal best or learning new techniques, Jake tailors every trip to match your skill level and goals. He's equally comfortable putting beginners on their first five-pounder as he is fine-tuning an experienced angler's flipping game in heavy vegetation. His boat is fully equipped with the latest electronics and top-tier tackle.

Latest Fishing Report

2026-04-01

Lake Guntersville bass fishing has been outstanding this past week. Water temps are sitting around 62-65 degrees and the largemouth are fully committed to the spring spawn. We've been finding big pre-spawn females staging on secondary points near the grass lines in 4-6 feet of water. Lipless crankbaits and swimjigs have been the top producers.

The afternoons have been especially productive as the sun warms the shallow flats. Several clients landed fish over 7 pounds this week, with the biggest going 9.2 pounds on a chartreuse and white swimjig. Spotted bass are also active on the main river ledges for anglers willing to target them with drop shots.

Current conditions: water is slightly stained with about 2 feet of visibility. The grass is starting to green up nicely, and that's pulling baitfish into the shallows. If this warm trend holds, we should see peak spawning activity within the next two weeks. Book now if you want to hit the best window of the year.
